Need a Nurse to Assist With
New Or Complex Medications?
A
Physical Therapist To Get
That Knee Back in Shape?
Someone to Drive You To the Doctor?
Black Stone Is There For You

Black Stone's full range of services makes us a little different.  Many home care companies just do unskilled, non-medical care.  Other agencies strictly have skilled nurses and therapists.   We're able to help our clients and their physicians with skilled care services (including infusion and oxygen services), physical therapy, speech therapy, and non-medical home care.  So as your needs change from needing nursing or therapy services to needing non-medical care, or vice versa, you can rely on one organization - Black Stone - to provide you with the caregivers you will love and who will respect you.

Skilled Nursing:  Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Therapists, and Social Workers provide services that cannot be performed safely or effectively by non-professional personnel.  These services are usually referred to as skilled services, and differ from the non-skilled services that may be provided by a nurse’s aide or family caregiver, such as assistance with bathing, feeding, toileting, etc.   Because of the medical necessity of these services, Medicare and many other insurances will pay for skilled care in the home as long as specific criteria is met. Many types of nursing or skilled services can now be provided in the home.  Skilled services fall into broad categories such as assessment of patient, teaching of self-care to patient or primary caregiver, specific interventions such as wound care or physical therapy, injections and intravenous therapy, and coordination of care with other health care providers including physicians.

Most people over the age of 65 are eligible for Medicare.  If an individual is under a physicians care, is home bound, and requires skilled services, he or she may be eligible for services provided by a Medicare-certified home care agency, such as Black Stone.    For more information on Medicare services and eligibility requirements, visit www.medicare.gov.
